Important safety point. iAssist is a supporting motoring tool. It is not an emergency service, breakdown provider, insurer, navigation guarantee or substitute for safe driving, professional advice or calling the appropriate emergency service.
1. Agreement to these terms
By accessing or using the iAssist website, app or related services, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the relevant service.
Consumer rights provided by law are not excluded or restricted by these terms.
2. The service
iAssist provides a collection of motoring-related tools which may include dash cam recording, vehicle reminders, parked-car location, nearby-service search, alerts, location-sharing and support information. Features may vary by device, operating system, country, app version, permissions and service availability.
Descriptions on the website are general. The functionality available on the installed version of the app and the relevant app-store listing takes priority where there is a difference.
3. Eligibility
You must be legally capable of agreeing to these terms. Features associated with driving or vehicle ownership are intended for adults with responsibility for their use.
You are responsible for ensuring that your device, permissions and use of the service are lawful, secure and appropriate for your circumstances.
4. Safe and lawful use
- Do not hold, configure or interact with a device while driving where doing so would be unsafe or unlawful.
- Set up the app, destination, mount and recording before moving off or only while safely parked.
- Use a suitable, secure mount that does not obstruct the driver’s view or interfere with controls or safety equipment.
- Always follow road laws, signs, conditions and instructions from emergency or authorised personnel.
- Do not rely on the app where a delay, error or loss of connection could put someone at risk.
5. Dash cam and recording features
You are responsible for using recording features lawfully. This includes complying with rules concerning road use, privacy, data protection, audio recording, surveillance, workplace policies, disclosure and the positioning of equipment.
Recording depends on device capacity, battery, permissions, temperature, storage, operating-system behaviour and other technical conditions. We do not guarantee that every journey, event, sound, speed, coordinate or image will be captured, retained or admissible for any particular purpose.
Review and secure important recordings promptly. Do not assume that footage will remain available indefinitely.
6. SOS, guardian, location and reminder tools
Alert and location features depend on factors outside our control, including device settings, signal, GPS accuracy, network availability, third-party platforms, recipient details and whether a recipient sees or acts on a message.
These features do not contact emergency services unless the app expressly states that a user-initiated action will do so. In an emergency, call the appropriate emergency service directly where possible.
Vehicle reminders are convenience tools. You remain responsible for MOT, insurance, tax, servicing, legal compliance and checking official records or documents.
7. Maps, app stores and third-party services
The service may use or link to mapping, location, communications, app-store, website or service providers operated by third parties. Their content, availability, accuracy and terms are outside our control.
Nearby results are informational and do not amount to a recommendation, guarantee of availability, price or quality. Check details directly with the provider before relying on them.
8. Information and content you provide
You retain responsibility for information, messages, media and other content you submit, store or share. You must have the right to use it and must not upload unlawful, misleading, infringing, malicious or harmful material.
You grant us only the rights reasonably necessary to operate, support, secure and improve the service or comply with law. We do not claim ownership of your personal content merely because it is used with the service.
9. Acceptable use
You must not:
- Use the service for unlawful, fraudulent, abusive or dangerous activity.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access, bypass security or interfere with systems or other users.
- Introduce malware, automate excessive requests, scrape protected areas or misuse interfaces.
- Reverse engineer, copy or exploit the service except where law expressly permits it.
- Misrepresent an affiliation with us or use the service to harass, monitor or track another person unlawfully.
10. Intellectual property
The iAssist name, branding, software, website design, text, graphics and other service content are owned by or licensed to First Notification Ltd and protected by intellectual-property law.
We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to use the service for its intended personal or authorised business purpose, subject to these terms and relevant app-store rules.
11. Availability, updates and changes
We may maintain, update, improve, replace, suspend or discontinue features. Updates may be required for security, compatibility or continued use. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free availability.
We may correct website errors or update descriptions without notice. Material changes to these terms will be identified by changing the effective date and, where appropriate, by providing additional notice.
12. Responsibility and liability
We provide the service with reasonable care and skill. However, no app can eliminate the risks of driving, guarantee communications, ensure a recording is captured or replace professional, legal, insurance, breakdown or emergency assistance.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability where exclusion would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or applicable statutory consumer rights.
Subject to those protections, we are not responsible for losses that are not a foreseeable consequence of our breach, losses caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control, or business losses where the service is used primarily for personal purposes. Business users are responsible for assessing whether the service is suitable for their operational and compliance requirements.
13. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the website or app at any time and remove the app from your device.
We may restrict or terminate access where reasonably necessary to address a serious or repeated breach, protect security or users, comply with law, prevent misuse or discontinue a service. Where reasonable, we will provide notice.
14. General terms
If part of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply. A delay in enforcing a right does not waive it. No person other than you and First Notification Ltd has a right to enforce these terms unless expressly stated.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Consumers may also have rights to bring proceedings in the courts of the part of the United Kingdom in which they live.
